At the Hearing Clinic we offer Microsuction ear wax removal.

Using our services ensures that you have your earwax removed safely, quickly and by a qualified professional you can trust. The process is usually over in a few minutes and the majority of people find it easy and comfortable. 

 

The process is the safest way to remove earwax as we can see everything we are doing during the removal. Unlike ear syringing or ear irrigation, where ear wax is flushed out without a view of the canal, during microsuction, the canal and the ear wax is being directly viewed with the microscope whilst it is being removed.

Everyone produces a degree of ear wax but others may build up excess wax due to several reasons: narrow canals, hairy canals, sharp bends in the canal, using ear buds and using hearing aids. Ear wax ( Cerumen) is produced by the oil cerumen which is produced in the outer ear which mixes with dying skin, debris in the air and dust.

Blockages in the ear can cause hearing loss, tinnitus, itchy ears, earache, vertigo (dizziness) and infections.

We recommend that all our patients use olive oil for a few days prior to their appointment however it is not always essential. If the wax is unable to be removed on the first appointment we would re-book  the patient in for a weeks time to allow them to soften the wax with olive oil. We only charge for the initial visit.
